Introduction

eVision is protected against illegal copy by a license scheme. To satisfy the needs of industrial customers, eVision integrates a flexible license management tool that is presented in this document.

The licenses granted on your system are stored in a "protection device". This protection device may be a Euresys frame grabber or a dongle. This gives birth to the following protection schemes:

Mode 1: On-board license

When using a Euresys' frame grabber (Picolo, Domino or Multi), the list of the licenses granted on your system is stored on the frame grabber's non-volatile memory. The main advantage of this protection scheme is that it does not require any extra hardware. Moreover, new licenses may easily be added by entering an activation code in the license manager.

When ordering eVision libraries along with a frame grabber, the frame grabber comes pre-programmed with your licenses. This simplifies your first steps with the eVision libraries.

Mode 2: Memory dongle

When no frame grabber is available, licenses may be stored in a memory dongle plugged on the PC's parallel port. Similarly, new licenses may easily be added by entering an activation code in the license manager.
